Summer activities are not just for kids. Though both of our local park districts offer a ton for the younger set, don’t overlook the adult opportunities. There’s no better time than summer to try something new. Here are a few suggestions:
Champaign Park District:
Play with clay
Springer Cultural Center offers a few classes where you can express your artistic side through clay, whether you are a newbie or have the basics down.
Channel your inner Serena
No matter your experience, there is a tennis class for you. What a great way to get some exercise and maybe get out your aggressions.
Perfect your swashbuckling
Do a mini fencing camp for adults at The Point Fencing Club and School.

Urbana Park District:
Increase your wellness
From making your own bug spray to learning about gut bacteria, the UPD is offering several wellness related workshops throughout the summer.
Connect to nature
Join weekly Wednesday evening hikes throughout the summer at various Urbana parks. You’ll learn about restoration as well as native plants and invasive species. And there are snacks!
Try some old timey dancing
Learn some English Country dancing or it’s American counterpart, Contra Dance. You can make a connection with history while meeting some new people.
