Bruce Weber held an impromptu press conference this afternoon at the Ubben. He responded to the breaking news that Jeff Jordan has spoken with the staff about returning to the team.
The purpose of the presser was to discuss the October 16 “Spike the Record” event, which kicks off the official season. Weber spoke about the dunk contest, and whether he would parachute in from the rafters.
I asked whether Jordan’s return, plus Joseph Bertrand’s injury, might influence a decision from Bertrand about redshirting.
Weber called down to Bertrand, who had replaced Richard Semrau as the lone Illini practicing jump shots on the court. “Hey Joseph, they want to know if you’re going to redshirt.”
Bertrand smiled. “I don’t know. I hope not.”
