Alseny Soumah’s new, weekly West African Dance class is starting THIS WEDNESDAY, February 3rd, from 6:00-7:20 P.M.. (please note the new time from the one mentioned in the previous email!) Classes will be held every Wednesday at the Capoeira Academy at 32 E. Springfield (a multi-unit white building with big windows, across from Fireside Grill, just East of the Neil St. viaduct.)
Alseny is a Master Teacher very adept at teaching to a range of levels in the same class, so all dancers should feel very comfortable and accomodated taking this class. The class is run on a “Drop-In” basis and the cost is $10 for Students, $12 for General Public (Bulk-Purchase Discounts Available). Master Drummer Bolokada Conde, one of West Africa’s premiere Djembefolas and a visiting UIUC Music Instructor, will be playing lead djembe for this class! Witnessing Alseny and Bolokada together in the same room is incredibly entertaining and ELECTRIC, and you MUST come to experience it at least once!
So,please help spread the word about this great new teacher and class in town, and be there Wednesday to welcome Alseny at his first community class!!!
