Roberts said Urbana’s Class A liquor-license fee to operate a bar is $4,462 annually and, unless the council acts to change it, will increase 4.5 percent to $4,663 on July 1. In comparison, Champaign’s current base fee is $1,900 and is scheduled to increase to $2,100 on July 1. The fee is $1,800 in Evanston, $1,700 in Savoy, $1,300 in Danville and $1,200 in Kankakee, he said.
