Mayoral candidate clings to belief that Obama is American

Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary and in the face of public scorn, Champaign mayoral candidate Don Gerard continues to hold tightly to his belief that U.S. President Barack Obama is a natural born United States citizen. “I’m entitled to my opinion, and I haven’t seen anything to change that opinion,” Gerard said Wednesday in a campaign appearance. While some fringe theorists such as every major U.S. newspaper, the major broadcast networks, and the State Department share Gerard’s belief, his explanations have never gained traction among the Real Champaign. Gerard also makes the ridiculous claim that Obama is not a Secret Muslim, further marginalizing his views among average citizens.

Flying in the face of reports by such reputable news organizations as WorldNetDaily, ProphecyNewsAlert, ObamaCrimes.com and AmericaMustKnow.net, and such respected thinkers as Michele Bachmann, Michael Savage, and G. Gordon Liddy, Gerard’s beliefs on this issue are widely considered to be proof that he does not possess the mental faculties to govern effectively.

We also have unconfirmed reports that Gerard knows how to use email. Many observers are calling this behavior bizarre, especially when running for mayor of a town that is often referred to as one of the top tech communities in the country.
