The media embargo didn’t last.
This afternoon at Ubben, the players were made available to preview Wednesday’s Penn State game. But no one asked about that. There was newsier news.
The Illini had Sunday off, but the players all came together when Bill Cole texted the team. They met to hash things out.
Although the guys all said they’d keep the specifics to themselves, they did talk about the meeting (except Mike Tisdale, who declined an invitation to comment).
Here’s what DJ Richardson, Bill Cole, Bubba Chisholm and Tyler Griffey (respectively) had to say about the player summit:
Dominique Keller was the last guy to meet the press. For his two cents, the captains should be Demetri McCamey and Mike Davis. They’re on the floor the most, and they get the most publicity.
It’s the unspoken underlying narrative of this comment that I find most striking.
