From the press release:
JSM Development is pleased to announce the execution of a lease with KoFusion to be located at Gregory Place West, 701 S. Gregory Street in Urbana. KoFusion’s newest restaurant will seat 90 and occupy 2,974 square feet on the first floor of the building. Construction of their restaurant will begin immediately.
KoFusion is a contemporary American fare cocktail lounge and sushi bar that has rapidly gained popularity since opening their doors during the summer of 2005 in downtown Champaign. Voted Champaign-Urbana’s “Best Sushi” five years in a row, KoFusion’s second location at Gregory Place West will feature a “smaller self-service menu focusing on dollar sushi and stir-fries,” stated Janet Bubin, owner of KoFusion.
“The location of Gregory Place along with JSM’s strong reputation on campus and in the community were instrumental in our decision to open a KoFusion on campus,” stated Bubin. “The design of the new restaurant will purposefully reflect the modern urban atmosphere of our downtown location.”
“We felt that the Gregory Place location would do a number of positive things for customers of KoFusion. It provides easier access to our loyal student following, it allows an alternative location for residents of Urbana, and makes a great before and after show dining destination for patrons of the Krannert Center,” stated Matt Wavering, Director of Commercial Brokerage for Coldwell Banker Commercial Devonshire Realty and representing KoFusion. “JSM was spectacular throughout the planning and negotiation process. A major draw was their penchant for cross-promotion of their commercial and residential tenants. I have no doubt that this second KoFusion restaurant will thrive in this new location.”
KoFusion’s second restaurant at Gregory Place West is expected to open this coming summer.
“JSM is very excited to be working with KoFusion and Janet Bubin,” stated Jill Guth, Director of Commercial Leasing/Marketing for JSM. “This is an outstanding addition to not only Gregory Place, but east campus and the west Urbana neighborhoods. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with KoFusion.”
