Not long from now, in this galaxy right here… On Saturday, June 8, the Urbana Pops Orchestra will present “That’s No Moon,” an evening of space-inspired music at 7:00 PM. More information about the concert, to be held at the Urbana High School auditorium, can be found here.
The Urbana Pops is a 65-piece ensemble composed of music educators, Ewoks (sorry, couldn’t help it), college music majors, and seasoned community musicians sharing their stands with talented youth musicians. Their goal, other than defeating the Empire (last one, I promise), is to bring high-quality, popular orchestral music to the community at little or no cost and to nurture talented young musicians.
The June 8 concert will feature include the music of Holst (The Planets), John Williams (Star Wars) and the winner of the UPO’s composition contest.
