Okay, Movie Lovers, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that our beloved Art Theater Co-op is going to show the indie charmer Gimme the Loot on Wednesday, June 5 at 10 p.m. The bad news is that this is the only goddamn time they’re showing it.
The film, written and directed by Adam Leon, stars newcomers Tashiana Washington and Ty Hickson in an original dramedy about friendship and not-strictly-legal career aspirations shared by two daring graffiti artists in New York.
Their mission? To tag the giant apple that rises out of the stands at Shea Stadium whenever a home run is hit so that it will be seen during a nationally televised game and seal their reputations at artists. Their obstacle? Coming up with the cash to bribe the guard at Shea so they can work their magic.
I have had a deep crush on this movie since the first time I saw the trailer, and I encourage — nay, implore — you to get down to the Art on Wednesday at 10 and see this film.
