Tonight on SP Radio: Discussing ongoing matters at the Urbana Free Library

On the heels of Smile Politely’s initial coverage of the extensive weeding of the Urbana Free Library‘s non-fiction collection, and in the midst of the ongoing responses to this and larger matters at UFL, Smile Politely Radio delves into the situation with tonight’s three guests. JP Goguen is a library employee at the University of Illinois and provided much of the information from the first meeting (referenced in the article above). Kathryn La Barre and Carol Tilley are both assistant professors at U of I’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science. All three will be on the air to discuss a number of matters that go beyond the weeding process, including strategic planning as it relates to libraries, communicating with and serving the public, proper collection management, and much more. Additional Smile Politely coverage of the UFL situation can be found here and here

Smile Politely Radio airs each Friday evening at 5:30 on WEFT 90.1 FM in Champaign, and is available as a podcast the following week.
