Heirship Records releases Pygmalion comp

Heirship Records has done quite a few cool things around CU lately. They’ve helped Grandkids release their stunning debut full-length, Timeshare, and worked with local hip hop artists like Jay Moses. Well, add this to the young label’s list of accomplishments: a compilation CD of local bands playing Pygmalion Music Festival.

The comp, Crashing the Heirship, features 18 alternate takes, B-sides, or covers from 18 different C-U bands. The inclusive nature of the comp, along with the “otherness” of the songs (being alternate takes and such), creates a great sense of what the CU music scene is like in 2013.

To my knowledge, having attended several (most?) previous Pygmalion Fests, this is the first C-U-specific compilation for the festival. And quite a good one at that.

Copies of the compilation will be distirbuted by the bands during the festival. For those who don’t score a copy, it is streaming online (for free!) at Heirship Records bandcamp
