The Orpheum Children’s Science Museum invites participants to imagine, discover and explore a world that’s too small to see! NanoDays is part of a nationwide festival of educational programs about nanoscale science and engineering organized by the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Net). NanoDays, the largest public outreach effort in nanoscale informal science education, educates children and adults about nanoscale science, engineering, and technology and its potential impact on the future.
The great impact of nanotechnology comes from its tiny size. Nano research and development happens at the scale of atoms and molecules. But nano isn’t just in the lab — we can already find it in our homes, stores and hospitals. NanoDays with the Orpheum brings the staff of Nano-CEMMS together with science educators to create learning experiences for children to explore the miniscule world of atoms, molecules and nanoscale forces.
The Orpheum Children’s Science Museum’s mission is to inspire, engage and educate children through exploration of science and the arts. The Orpheum is proudly celebrating its 21st year of enriching our community through camps, after-school classes, special events, museum exhibits and field trips. We are a not for profit 501(c)(3) organization.
The Orpheum Children’s Science Museum is located in downtown Champaign. The museum is open weekdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and weekends from 1-5 p.m., but is closed on Mondays.
