URBANA — Local activists will are participate in the second March Against Monsanto Saturday morning, calling for the permanent boycott of genetically engineered organisms (GEOs), more commonly called genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and other agro-chemicals they consider harmful.
The march is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Saturday, at Strawberry Fields, 306. W. Springfield Ave., U.
It will conclude at the farmers market at Lincoln Square, where there will be a booth with information on the issues surrounding genetically engineered seeds and crops, environmental, health and political threats, and how to avoid eating GMO foods, organizers said in a press release.
All are welcome to bring a sign and participate in the march.
Marches are scheduled to take place on six continents, in 52 countries, with events in over 400 cities.
