Quis Dogs is the newest food truck to hit C-U. It’s been up and running for about three weeks or so, and I stumbled upon it last weekend in Downtown Champaign.
Quis Dogs serves 1/4 lb Nathan’s hot dogs, which are large and delicious. Each meal comes with a hot dog (limited toppings available), a bag of Lay’s chips, and a bottle of water for $5. Not so bad, if you’re looking for something quick and cheap.
I had the dog with chili con queso, which was essentially a poor man’s pump cheese version of queso fundido, but it wasn’t all that bad. The hot dog was good and it was hot. I’m not sure I’d order hot cheese on a hot dog on a hot day again, but that’s another story. I was about to gripe about how there is no Chicago dog on the menu ($6), but the owner Mark has just added one. I plan to get one of those very, very soon.
Although there doesn’t seem to be anything particularly special about this truck, it’s brand new, so I’m hopeful that there will be some more experimentation once the owner finds his footing. I’ll definitely check it out again soon. Visit the truck’s Facebook page (linked above) for an updated menu and posts about future locations.
