On top of its mission to provide emergency shelter and resources for many displaced families, for 21 years Restoration Urban Ministries has provided baskets of Thanksgiving fixings to struggling families around Champaign-Urbana. These baskets include everything for a traditional Thanksgiving meal–turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and vegetables–items that would otherwise go missing from the tables of those in need.
The cost of providing a family with a Thanksgiving basket is just $36. But, this year, Restoration Urban Ministries is lacking the funds to help needy families and is seeking assistance to provide this service to those they serve. To help cover the shortfall, Restoration Urban Ministries and Savoy United Methodist Church are asking the community to help give 250 local families a happy holiday by donating.
To provide 250 families with a $36 basket, the groups are hoping to raise $9,000 over the next week so that baskets may be distributed at Restoration Urban Ministries on November 21st. Anyone interested in donating my mail or deliver a check to
