Tom Kacich is reporting tonight that a local attorney has filed a formal objection to Don Gerard’s petition for Mayor after he apparently failed to file a necessary receipt showing that he correctly filed his statement of economic interests.
The reason might seem trivial, but candidates have been removed from the ballot for this mistake in the past.
I’m not a laywer, and have no idea how this will shake out, but it is now obvious that candidates should consult a laywer when filing their petitions. These types of oversights are easy to make, but should be easy to avoid.
Joe Petry also made a mistake on his petition and will have his first hearing this Friday, according to the News-Gazette article referenced above.
