A bit of news to start out your Saturday morning: Papa Del’s is moving. Per the News-Gazette‘s report — the move is likely to take place this fall, and their second restaurant, located at the Crossing, will be incorporated into the new location. Some notable info from the article:
Papa Del’s has been a mainstay on the University of Illinois campus since 1970. Its next home, the one-time Coca-Cola bottling company, has been a revolving door in recent years — housing Jillian’s (1994 to 2008), Buttitta’s Famiglia Ristorante (2010-11) and Orange & Brew Saloon & Grille (December 2013-December 2014).
In addition to leaving its campus location, Seten said it’s likely that its second restaurant, in southwest Champaign’s Village at the Crossing, would be incorporated into the new location.
“I think we might like to combine everything and have one giant factory,” she said.
Owner Bob Monti signed a contract on Friday making 1201 S. Neil the restaurant’s new home, Seten said.
Interesting. I suppose I understand the idea of consolidating the two, but will something finally stay put for the long run in this somewhat-doomed location in C-U?
