In college many of us didn’t really need an excuse to go imbibe with a large group of people. At the U of I it’s almost a rite of passage amongst students to find a party or bar hop on Green Street. As we get older, bellying up at the bar of our favorite watering hole seems to be the choice over traveling from bar to bar for similar drinks.
The bar crawl is a dying event amongst those of us outside of university life. The idea of going from one place to drink to another on a specific time schedule seems beneath us. We’re adults, we can do anything we want and with life dictating our day-to-day or hour-to-hour schedules, the idea of drinking on a schedule is distant.
But if we’re being honest, there’s a reason bar crawls were so fun. Sure alcohol was involved, that’s part of it. But it’s the camaraderie of heading to unique destinations with a group and trying whatever special appeals to your palate that’s where the fun is.
That fun is returning for craft beer drinkers in C-U. The 5th Annual CU Craft Beer Pub Crawl is happening on Sunday, May 31st. Tickets are $5 and all proceeds are going to a local charity that is TBD.
Even better, though, is that you can head to Triptych Brewing on Monday, April 20th for a kick-off ticket sale party. If you stop in to Triptych for a pint, your ticket will be $4 and you’ll be able to check out some of Triptych’s tasty beers.
