City of Champaign announces five applicants for vacant city council seat

The City of Champaign has announced the applicants for the vacant seat on the Champaign city council (once occupied by Will Kyles).

Five Residents Apply to Fill District 1 Council Vacancy

The City of Champaign received five applications to fill the vacant District 1 City Council office. In alphabetical order, the applicants are:

  • Azark David Cobbs

  • Clarissa Nickerson Fourman

  • Ingrid Kammin

  • Kelsey Elizabeth Parker

  • Brent West

    The City Council will carefully review the applications and then interview qualified candidates during the Council Study Session meeting on June 9. It is anticipated that the Council will appoint the new District 1 Council member at their regular City Council meeting on June 16.

    The District 1 Council Office became vacant on May 5, when former District 1 Council Member Will Kyles resigned that office and was sworn in as an At-Large Council Member. On May 20, the City Council began accepting applications from residents interested in serving out the remaining term of the District 1 Council office. The deadline to submit applications was 12:00 pm on June 3.
