U of I censured by AAUP in Salaita case

The AAUP voted today to censure the University of Illinois administration over the Steven Salaita case. This was to be expected, and not much changes in the grand scheme of things as far as the case goes. However, this is piling on the administration after stonewalling FOIA requests until yesterday.

From the News-Gazette:

“Censure by the AAUP informs the academic community that the administration of an institution has not adhered to generally recognized principles of academic freedom and tenure,” an AAUP statement said.

We’ll have to wait and see what the response from the University is going forward, but it’s not good any time you’re censured due to an academic freedom issue.
