Krannert Center has announced a new concert as part of their formidable Winter lineup – Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band will be stopping by Stage 6 (in the lobby) for a free performance on February 13th at 10 am. From the press release:
Urbana, IL—The Emmy and Latin Grammy-award winning family entertainment of Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered, Sprout TV’s Sunny Side Up Show, in spots for Coca-Cola, and in the original PBS TV show Lishy Lou and Lucky Too! The Washington Post has hailed them as “THE face of kindie music” and their five acclaimed albums have soared to the top of numerous “best” lists.
On Saturday, February 13, they arrive just in time for Valentine’s Day at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign amidst a tour of sold-out shows. Krannert Center’s free, 10am performance will take place in the expansive lobby, offering a relaxed and upbeat atmosphere for a get-up-and-dance set helmed by husband/wife duo Lucky Diaz and Alisha Gaddis and their cohorts. Crowned “the Rolling Stones of kids music” by the Style Network, the band’s pop-rock infused music and range of hits including their big smashes ¡Fantastico!, Thingamajig, Piñata Attack, and Blue Bear provide a delightful mixture of dual-language music with an undeniably magnetic appeal.
The I.D.E.A. Store will also be on hand along with other volunteer partners at this event to lead patrons in creating Valentine’s Day-themed crafts starting at 9am in the lobby. Intermezzo cafe, located at the north side of the Center’s lobby, will be open for service starting at 9am with bagels, pastries, light lunch options, and hot and cold drinks available for purchase. As always, the Center is equipped with free weekend parking in the four underground parking garages, with entrances on Illinois Street and Oregon Street.
