On May 7th, 2016, the McKinley Foundation at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will hold its Seventh Annual Social Justice Gala. This event will recognize persons and organizations in Champaign County for advancing a cause of social justice. The four awards will be presented to a student, a student organization, a community individual, and a community organization.
The McKinley Foundation seeks nominations of individuals and organizations demonstrating exceptional dedication to social justice locally, nationally, or internationally, and whose work has resulted in greater awareness of injustice and improved the lives of those who have suffered unjustly. All nominees must reside in or be based in Champaign County. If you know of an individual or organization meeting these criteria, please complete the attached form and write a short essay describing the nominee’s goals, activities, and accomplishments and send both documents by February 19 2016. There is no entry fee and the form is straightforward. We welcome self-nominations.
A $500 gift will be presented to the winners of the Student Organization and Community Organization awards, and to organizations chosen by the winners of the Student and Community Individual awards. All nominees will have an opportunity to showcase their work at the Gala in May.
