One of the biggest pieces of news coming out of Willard Airport over the past year is undoubtedly the addition of United Airlines as a carrier. It’s been quite some time since Willard has added a new provider, and the people of Champaign-Urbana are certainly excited to have more options when it comes to accessing the outside world.
To celebrate the maiden voyage of a United plane from Willard, they will be hosting a celebration next Thursday, June 8th, at 12:30 pm. This celebration will be open to the media, community members with gate passes and passengers with valid boarding passes.

United Airlines Inaugural Flight Celebration-Willard Airport
Please join us on Thursday, June 8th at 12:30PM at Willard Airport for the inaugural United Airlines flight out of CMI.
Celebration begins at 1:00PM and will include speeches from Airport Advisory Committee Chair Steve Carter, Willard Airport Executive Director Gene Cossey, and United Airlines representatives, as well as lunch provided by Einstein Bros Bagels.
