Registration for the October Electronics Collection opens September 5th

The online registration for this year’s Residential Electronics Collection will open Tuesday, September 5th at 8 a.m. The collection event takes place on Saturday, October 14th from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at Parkland College.

Residents can reserve one of the 15-minute time slots available between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. Immediately upon reserving a time, the resident will receive an email and/or text message confirming their reserved time. Then five to seven days before the event, residents will receive a postcard in the U.S. Mail, which will serve as their “ticket” into the event.

Information regarding accepted items can be found on the registration website. There will be a two TV limit per postcard (all types, models, and sizes of TVs are accepted, working and nonworking) and a 10-item total limit per postcard.

The event will be held rain or shine. Severe weather will increase wait times, but the wait is still minimal. The weather would have to get very severe before it is cancelled.

Only residents who live in the participating communities can register: Bondville, Broadlands, Champaign, Gifford, Homer, Ivesdale, Ludlow, Mahomet, Odgen, Rantoul, Royal, Sadorus, Savoy, St. Joseph, Thomasboro, Urbana, and unincorporated Champaign County.

Register here.
