Next week, Krannert Art Museum will be hosting an Artist Talk with Palestinian artists Basel Abbas and Ruanne About-Rahme who “make collaborative work informed by the artist’s research with historical archives, literature, underground music and film.” Their exhibit, And yet my mask is powerful, found in the West Gallery, Light Court, and Gelvin Noel Annex, will be on display until July 14th.
Below are some photos of the exhibit; one room includes a totally immersive video and soundscape which follows the discovery of items and masks, some of which are on display in the adjoining room, and brings up the question of who exactly owns culture.
