Last week I went to check out what the plans were for the new and improved path and trail around Urbana Park District‘s Crystal Lake Park.
Here’s a map of the preliminary plans for the path (open image in a new tab to zoom):
Here’s a photo from Google Maps, as the new trail/path will curve around the northwest corner of the intersection of Park and Broadway Avenue. The path will start at Church Street, and weave on the north side of Park Avenue, and then curve and run north on the west side of Broadway.
Here’s some information from the initial press release about the project:
The Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP), will improve the trail system and surrounding connectivity with Crystal Lake Park. This project will design and construct a multi-use path along the southern border of the park, and complete preliminary design for a future path and pedestrian bridge along the southern Broadway Avenue park boundary, crossing the Saline Creek.
