Here’s the press release:
Bloomington, IL, August 15, 2018—Epiphany Farms Hospitality Group (EFHG) brings their next innovation to downtown Bloomington. Opening September 5, 2018, at 513 N Main St, Bakery & Pickle is EFHG’s modern take on the prohibition-era speakeasy.
Housed in a historic space a few blocks from their flagship Epiphany Farms Restaurant, Bakery & Pickle will feature the best Epiphany Farms has to offer, straight from the fields to their guests: baked goods, made on site daily, and a variety of pickles preserving the best from the fields will fill the marketplace front. Book your experience or score the password, and push beyond the marketplace to find yourself in another era.
Beginning at the bar, enjoy a selection from their world-class beverage program beyond anything Bloomington-Normal has ever seen, curated by Greg Miesch, former sommelier and principal mixologist at Fion Wine and Spirits in Chicago. The lists are chef-driven and rely on scratch preparations that utilize many of the same culinary techniques you’d normally see used in a kitchen setting. The cocktails themselves are influenced by prohibition-era offerings and are matched with innovation and locally grown ingredients sourced directly from their farms. “This isn’t your everyday speakeasy that only serves libations mixed strictly by classical standards; this is something much more. This is Epiphany Farms does Prohibition,” Greg explains.
Moving from the bar to the table, the experience continues with a chef-driven, supper club-style dinner set in an intimate, laid-back atmosphere. Ever wonder what your favorite chefs choose to eat when they go out? Chefs Stu Hummel and Ken Myszka have finally brought their chefavorites to Bloomington-Normal, and as you would expect, it’s everything you’ve ever dreamt of and more.
Chef Stu Hummel describes the experience: “This restaurant fills a gap in EFHG with two unique dining experiences—enjoy a boisterous supper club-style meal or slide in late night for our favorite guilty pleasures and a craft cocktail. Both options are my favorite way to dine…trust that we will blanket you with a good time.”
The Bakery and Pickle experience’s feature is your choice of shared entree, all built with the best ingredients sourced from Epiphany farms, plated family style. Looking to push a bit further? Elevate your experience with a flight of oysters, assortment of fruits de mer, beef tartare, pate, head cheese, or house-cured charcuterie to name a few of the available supplements.
“Fruits de mer, oysters, caviar, killer flatbreads, the best burger you’ve ever had topped with foie gras and a madeira reduction—these are all the things I would want to eat on a night out on the town. Order a drink, sit back, and enjoy the atmosphere. Let us take care of you,” Chef Ken promises.
Unable to book an experience in time? There’s also a late-night a-la-carte menu featuring small plates and desserts after 9pm…if you’re able to score the password, that is.
Book your dinner experience today via their online reservation system at: https://www.exploretock.com/bakeryandpickle. Reservations open 60 days in advance. Or connect with the Epiphany Farms Hospitality Group to score the password for late night access.
That’s right — it’s a market and a semi-secret restaurant. There’s something fun about the speakeasy format; it’s clandestine, but thankfully, not illegal (at least in this scenario). And you can pick up some tasty breads and treats and snacks.
Epiphany Farms also owns and operates the Epiphany Farms Restaurant, Anju Above, and Old Bank Restaurant.
