The ongoing battle between Carle Hospital and the City of Urbana continues today, albeit at a higher level: the Illinois Supreme Court.
Today, the Illinois Supreme Court upheld a ruling regarding property tax exemptions and non-profit hospitals, wherein the state tax code allows hospitals to seek property tax exemptions in order to incentivize more charitable care for members of the community.
