The first Tuesday of each month, Papa Del’s host a special social gathering for community members with dementia and their caregivers. They’re given a semi-private area to enjoy each other’s company in a space where they can feel space and welcome.
Forget-Me-Not Café came about thanks to Willowbrook Memory Care, and OSF St. Mary’s. Jennifer Kibler of Willowbrook reached out to Papa Del’s after being turned away at many businesses. General manager Andrea Seten said that she as well as other staff have family members with dementia, so “it hit close to home.”
From Willowbrook: “It is a purely social, non-judgmental gathering in a setting that offers enrichment to the life of those living with the challenges of dementia. The event features a simplified menu with special pricing, as well as engaging entertainment. This allows the opportunity to interact with others without embarrassment, misunderstanding, or stigma.”
The next Forget-Me-Not Café is Tuesday, February 5th from 12 to 2 p.m.
