One of the best ways to use fresh (and local) produce in your cooking and do it in a budget-friendly way is to shop and cook seasonally. As fruits and veggies come into season, they are available in abundance and therefore much cheaper!
Common Ground Food Co-op wants to help you along, so they are offer monthly cooking classes that will show you how to utilize seasonal items and maintain a budget while also preparing healthy dishes.
Next up is summer squashes, which if you’ve ever planted zucchini in your garden you know are exploding about this time of year. On July 24th from 6 to 7:30 p.m., learn multiple ways of preparing them so that you don’t do what I would always resort to and just grate it all for zucchini bread. The class is free, but registration is required. You can do that here.
Here’s a sneak peek at upcoming classes:
August 28th, 6-7:30 p.m.: Tomatoes & Peppers
September 25th, 6-7:30 p.m.: Eggplant
October 30th, 6-7:30 p.m.: Root Vegetables
