One of the things I love about this time of year is the slow “waking up” of seasonal businesses and events and such. It’s sometime to sustain me and give me things to look forward to in a season that is so fickle in the Midwest.
Greenhouse Café at Allerton Park is one of those businesses coming back to life this month, on March 17th. It’s a great place to stop for some refreshments as you are out enjoying nature. They have a solid hot and cold coffee and tea selection, and lots of light bites for breakfast and lunch.
Once a month they will be doing a brunch as well as an afternoon tea service with all the crustless sandwiches and sweet treats you would expect at afternoon tea.
They’ve made a few improvements this year. According to the press release, “a few backend operations will be tweaked to increase sustainability efforts, including eliminating straws and decreasing the use of single-use paper and plastic products. Two accomplished bakers have been added to the staff and the Café plans to make good use of their talents with an increased assortment of pastries and new homemade ice cream recipes.”
