If you are looking to refine your picking skills, Sam Payne will be leading two workshops on June 13th. There is a 12:30 p.m. session and a 3 p.m. session. Each will be limited to 10 people to keep the experience a bit more personal.
From the event page:
In this 75 minute workshop, accomplished Illinois flatpicker Sam Payne will demonstrate how the vast majority of flatpick guitar music — even the most complicated solos and tunes — can be broken down into just 5 pick hand motions, each of which can be honed separately in your quest to increase pick hand control, accuracy, and speed. During the first part of the workshop, he’ll take you through a handful of pick hand workouts that focus on each of the 5 motions, and provide links to interactive Soundslice notation and a PDF download of each exercise. He’ll also discuss general concepts about pick hand technique such as alternate picking, how much wrist motion vs. arm motion to use, how to get the tone you want, and how to develop rock solid timing. The second part of the workshop will be open for questions and answers about the pick hand, or any other flatpicking curiosities you may have!
Tickets are $20 and can be purchase here.
