About Illinois House District 104:
District 104 encompasses portions of Champaign and Vermillion counties, including Danville, Rantoul, part of Champaign, Urbana, and Savoy, and many rural communities. Republican Mike Marron was appointed as the representative for this district after Chad Hays stepped down mid-term in 2017. He ran again in 2018, and was challenged by Democrat Cynthia Cunnigham. Marron won, and now they are matched up again for the 2020 election.
Cunningham grew up in the Chicago area and attended the University of Illinois, earning a degree in recreational therapy. She’s spent much of her career working with and advocating for seniors, and currently has her own company Cobalt Creek Consulting, to assist those in businesses that provide home and community based services to seniors. From her website:
“Cindy’s goals for office include developing a strategy for addressing the growing needs of seniors in Illinois, the fair treatment of labor unions by the state, reaffirming our commitment to education and higher education through equitable, stable funding of our schools, colleges, and universities, changing our income tax structure to be more fair, and pushing for the fair treatment of all Illinoisans, not just the elite.”
Marron grew up on a farm, and currently operates a farm in Vermillion County. He has served on the Illinois Soybean Board, and as Chairman of the Vermillion County Board, and has extensive experience related to agricultural issues. From his website:
“My goal is to represent and advocate for the 104th District to bring growth and investment, and to ensure that the State of Illinois lives within its means. Time is a commodity, and it’s running short for the state to clean up its act. I am ready for the challenge and excited for this opportunity.”
