Each year, Developmental Services Center kicks off their Tree of Hope Campaign with the ceremonial tree lighting at the corner of Marketview Drive and Prospect. This year the event will be shown on Facebook live, so community members can watch from a distance. The ceremony will happen on November 12th at 4:30 p.m. The event will feature 2020 Tree of Hope Spokesfamily, Charlotte Freres, and her parents, Bryan and Ciara Freres, and her older sister, Reagan.
Here’s a little background on the Tree of Hope Campaign, from the press release:
The Tree of Hope is DSC’s largest fundraiser of the year. Donations support DSC’s annual budget, allowing the agency to continue providing services for more than 1,100 children and adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities or delays each year. Every gift given between now and January 31, 2021 helps light the Tree of Hope, located on the corner of Prospect Avenue and Marketview Drive in Champaign. The lights represent the services DSC provides. Each time a bulb is lit, it represents $50 in contributions to the campaign, thus, allowing DSC to provide the resources and services vital to a brighter future for individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities and their families.
