The State of Illinois officially has doses of the first COVID-19 vaccine approved and distributed in the United States in its possession.
Per a tweet by Governor JB Pritzker, the doses arrived earlier today, and will now be processed to go to hospitals and others throughout the state high on the list to recieve them first. The first person in the U.S. to receive the vaccine was Sandra Lindsay, a nurse at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, earlier today.
According to New York Times, the state of Illinois will receive 109,000 doses initially.
