The Urbana Park District and Champaign County Forest Preserve District are partnering to get science kit into the hands of students in Champaign County. Their endeavor is possible because of a $6500 Community Foundation Grant from Community Foundation of East Central Illinois.
From Chelsea Prahl, Environmental Education Coordinator at Urbana Park District, “This grant will be used to provide educators and students with standards-based environmental education kits. Fourth grade teachers and students will receive kits which have everything needed to facilitate hands-on science lessons and activities virtually or in-person.”
There will be enough kits to distribute to 1000 students.
