Medical students in the new Carle Illinois College of Medicine are some of the first in our community to have received both doses of the COVID vaccine, and a few of them have shared their perspectives on the College of Medicine website:
Jack Lowe, second-year student and Type-1 diabetic:
“I want to share my experience with the vaccine – if there were any adverse effects to my blood sugar, etc. Spoiler alert: there haven’t been any changes.”
Anders Gould, first-year student:
“I chose to forgo travel during both fall and winter breaks to lower the risk of contracting and spreading the virus. So, with the vaccine, I hope to visit my family sooner rather than later.”
Anant Naik, third-year student who saw COVID patients during his surgical rotation:
“I was inspired by the many stories of healthcare providers and frontline workers taking ownership and stepping into the roles of emotional support.”
