After more than a year with an empty stage and seats, the Virginia Theatre will have a full schedule of events for their 100th anniversary season, beginning with Gordon Lightfoot on August 16th.
The News-Gazette film series and Rewind 92.5 movie series are back, as well as annual events such as Holiday in Whoville, That’s What She Said, and Ebertfest. Renee Elise Goldberry and David Sedaris are among acts that were originally scheduled pre-pandemic. There will be a staging of the play The Bat, which was the first performance at the theatre on December 28th, 1921.
With Illinois moving into Phase 5, events will be full capacity. Unvaccinated patrons, including children under 12, are asked to wear masks, though proof of vaccination will be not required.
You can find the full list of events here.
