Boston’s Sarah Borges plays rock ‘n roll with a little bit of country and a little bit of punk rock. We hear that she’s an engaging live performer who’s not afraid to bring it. Local jack-of-all trades Mike Ingram has been playing drums for Borges on this tour, so if you go you get to support local music too. It should be interesting to see if the Monkey can handle Ingram’s rotating drum set rig.
WHAT: WEFT Benefit with Kilborn Alley Blues Band, the Tractor Kings and Curb Service

A benefit for WEFT is a worthy cause, but in this case your money will not only get you a local radio station that’s willing to support dozens of different musical genres. It will also get you Curb Service, the Tractor Kings and Kilborn Alley ripping through several of these genres in rapid succession.
WHAT: Trampled By Turtles, Chicago Farmer

Duluth, MN’s Trampled By Turtles play bluegrass/country in an old style that many of you are probably familiar with, but the way they play it is wonderfully unique. Their live shows are always energetic affairs. Hopefully, Chicago Farmer is familiar to locals by now, but if not, this is another chance to catch the enchanting folk-singer.
WHAT: Twin Sister, Memoryhouse, Grandkids
WHERE: The Canopy Club ($10)
WHEN: Friday August 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Twin Sister are from Long Island and plays shambalic dream pop with droning — not unlike a Beach House with a more instrumentation and an electronic edge. Memoryhouse is from Guelph, Ontario (home of the Iron Duke!) and they also have that hazy, modern Mazzy Star sound. So ff this is a vibe you like to float along to, this show should be quite a ride.
