Let’s get one thing straight here: the local music scene as we currently know it would not exist if it weren’t for the Vertebrats. Their undeniably great songwriting put Champaign-Urbana on the college radio map, and their music has been covered by everyone from Uncle Tupelo to Courtney Love.
