Following the release of Ill Poets Society Vol. 2, which John took a look at last week, this show is happening on Thursday night. With Aaron Ammons leading the way, there wil be a bunch of other featured artists, including Chase Baby, David Huettner, Jennifer Costello, Kevin Cory, KillaNoyz, Littleman Lopez, Raymond Morales, T.R.U.T.H., Xplicit, and the soundtrack will be done by theG8Thinkaz.

WHAT: The City, The Ruins, Uncertainties, Progressions, While Heroes Sleep, Tried And True

Central Illinois prog-metal outfit The City, The Ruins stop through at Error Records this week. They’re joined by a handful of other bands, locals and from places nearby C-U, along the same lines sonically as the headliner.

WHAT: Dopapod, The Coop

WHEN: Thursday, February 6th at 9 p.m.

Brooklyn by way of Boston experimental funk outfit Dopapod makes their way through C-U to the Canopy Club on Thursday night. They’re on their winter tour, and Urbana is a stop for them. They have some free music here if you’re interested.

EDITOR’S PICK: ENTA, ANODES, YUSUKE, HANK.
Mike ‘N Molly’a ($5) — Friday, Febaruary 7th at 9 p.m.

A pretty stacked bill is happening at Mike ‘N Molly’s on Friday night featuring local post-hardcore/screamo outfit Enta as they are set to release their split with Anodes. They released the songs back in December, one of which made our year-end list, but this is an official release.

Not only will it feature those two acts, but add locals Yusuke and Hank. to the mix, and you’ve got yourself a hell of a bill on Friday.

Stream the album over at Enta’s Bandcamp page to check the songs out for yourself. Order it on vinyl as well, while you’re at it.

WHAT: Old Shoe, Bones Jugs & Harmony

Old Shoe and a local Bones Jugs & Harmony head over to Canopy Club for a show on Friday night. Old Shoe is a five-piece out of Chicago with an Americana/folky roots sound. Their latest album Family was released not too long ago back in 2013, so check that out if you’re interested in this show this week.

A handful of punk/hardcore/metal bands lined up at Error on Saturday evening. Springfield’s Witchweed is here to play with a few C-U locals, and witness a battle set between Table Drama (Springfield) and local black metal howlers Øde Vinter. Should be wild.
