EDITOR’S PICK: PELICAN, NOTHING
The Highdive ($15) — Saturday, May 17th at 7:15 p.m.

This is the next Pygmalion Festival Summer Show Series, which is happening on Saturday night at the Highdive. Talk about a rock show — this one will have plenty of that to go around. Chicago’s Pelican head’s this one up, as they are touring to support their first record in four years, Forever Becoming, which came out last year on Southern Lord. The post-metal/rock outfit did most of their damage in the mid-2000s with a handful of great records worth checking out, including The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw, a recommendation of mine to check out. They’re joined by Nothing, a stellar shoegaze outfit that put out their great Guilty of Everything earlier this year. Check that one out as well.
