The Homer Opera House is located about 20 minutes outside of C-U in the small town of, well, Homer. The HOH has been renovated and is now open and will be scheduling music acts and events in the future. Rebecah wrote a great article on the renovations, check that out here.
Last Saturday the HOH opened its doors again to the public and hosted local vendors, musicians, snacks and craft soda. There was a real decent group of people who came out, bought tickets, enjoyed vendors and snacks while checking out the musical acts which were truly a treat.
The venue is big and beautiful and full of grungy character. The stage is full sized with plenty of room for instruments and artists. There are spot lights coming from the balcony and the PA system was kicking. If only this big, beautiful building could be moved 20 minutes closer to my house, I would for sure be enjoying musical acts there frequently. But, it is in Homer. Which, if you want to take an adventure I would recommend you not shy away. Choose a show to go to at the HOH, drive out before hand, go to Homer Lake, get dinner at Charlie’s, then go enjoy some music in a one of a kind venue. Worth it.

HOH has tons of character, great sounds, and a lot of space. There will be more musical acts coming to play and I could see taking a trip out to Homer for a day to enjoy the other attractions as well as the opera house. Keep up with them on Facebook.
