The Tons O’ Fun Band, along with numerous special guests, played to an enthusiastic crowd this past Saturday at the Virginia Theater. In a show lasting over two hours, patrons were treated to a myriad of Christmas music ranging from classic recordings to original pieces. The show was bittersweet for both the musicians and those in attendance as it is most likely the last one that will be held at the Champaign venue. “We’ve been asked to take it on the road,” said lead vocalist Terry Luttrell. “Paris has asked us to (hold a show). In Terre Haute we’ve talked to the Hulman Center. You know, a couple of theaters that are close; within driving range.”

This was the band’s tenth Christmas show and Luttrell’s fifth since joining the group. “The whole show tonight was better than any in the past, I thought,” he stated. “It just had a really good energy this year.” Joining Tons O’ Fun at the performance were Drew Fredrickson, Vince Elam, No Secret, Cliff and Kristy Stoker, Dry Creek Station, Rena Day, Steve Schmidt, La Familia Aguirre, The Henningsens, and the Champaign Central High School Snares.
Proceeds from the event supported the Developmental Services Center’s 2015 Tree of Hope campaign. For more information, visit the website.
