Remember how we said last week that the July 18 Market was one of the best ever? Well, it was. The July 25 Market, however, surpassed everyone’s expectations, with great weather and near-record breaking attendance again. This weekend looks like another winner, with literally tons of fresh food, hula hoops (again!) along with several new artisans, community groups (including The Urbana Free Library). There are both new patrons and Market devotees buying food and socializing at the Market — it’s the most unique summer event in the area. Thank yourselves for making it that way!
Once again, it’ll be bounteous at the Market this week — sweet corn, peaches, blueberries, summer squash, heirloom tomatoes — plus the arrival of some pears and very early apples. Don’t let their appearance alarm you — we’re not even close to done with summer — there are several early varieties that coexist peacefully right next to the stone fruits and berries.
Produce this week:
arugula, basil, beets, blackberries, blueberries, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, cilantro, cucumbers, eggplant, field greens, garlic scapes, green beans, green onions, kale, kohlrabi, leaf lettuce, leeks, nectarines, onions, parsley, peaches, pears, potatoes, raspberries, spinach, summer squash, SWEET CORN, swiss chard, tomatoes, turnips, zucchini and I’m sure I’m forgetting something!
The weather forecast looks positive… see you out there!
