Last Saturday’s Spring Bash at Silvercreek Restaurant was an opening celebration of the restaurant’s deck/patio season. Luckily, it was a nice sunny day with no rain in sight. It was bit chilly, but the heaters they set out took care of that. There was great live music from the Dalton Halls band ($5 cover), tasty food and drink specials on the patio, and beer tasting provided by Triptych Brewing. The $5 patio bash menu included beer pairings for each of the dishes, and additional $5 drinks including Triptych beer cans and sweet sangria. After tasting, you could also purchase your favorite Triptych 4-pack to go.
I hope they have this party again next year, and not to worry if you missed this season’s event. Now that the patio is open they’ll be having a bunch of live bands and ‘Appy Hour food and drink specials on the deck every Friday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Welcome Spring!
Spring Bash Menu and Triptych Beer Pairings
Chilled Oysters on the Half Shell made with New England Oysters and topped with a tart and sweet green papaya and lemon relish, paired with Pretty Nice Little Saturday Lager
Tender Curried beef Kabobs marinated in curry and topped with a spicy mango chutney, paired with Little Secret Session IPA.
Pork and Feta Kefta made with ground pork and feta cheeses and served with a side of chilled marinated cucumbers, pared with Dank Meme East Coast Pale Ale (This was my favorite dish and beer pairing. I don’t even like cucumbers and I ate all of them and even asked for more!)
Grilled Pear Halves poached in strawberry syrup, chilled and then grilled and served wot mascarpone, fresh thyme leaves and a sweet drizzle of golden, paired with Prairie Peach Picnic.
Silvercreek Restaurant is located at 402 N Race St, Urbana.
