This week on Smile Politely Radio, we’re joined by Traci Barkley and Robert Hirschfeld from the Prairie Rivers Network. Approaching water issues from scientific, policy, and public health perspectives, they joined us to discuss a number of important issues facing Illinois’ rivers, watersheds, and water supplies. Being in the heart of the Midwest, we discuss particular matters of importance to Illinois residents, including agricultural and landscape runoff, potential pollution sources such as a recent proposal to sell water in Central Illinois to a coal mine, and the effects of improperly disposed pharmaceuticals and other household chemicals. Tune in to learn more, and follow them on Facebook and Twitter for up-to-date information related to Illinois’ waterways.
Also, we have our latest Science Politely segment featuring Laura Stein, PhD candidate in the Department of Animal Biology at the U of I discussing parents and their offspring.
Smile Politely Radio airs each Friday evening at 5:30 on WEFT 90.1 FM in Champaign, and is available as a podcast the following week.
